Who has it harder: Femmes or Studs? 2 Replies

The debate is on: Who has a harder time of it - femmes or studs? Where one may argue that a feminine woman can blend better in mainstream society, one could argue that when it comes to studs there i…

Too Much Sex? 1 Reply

What do you think when a story has gratuitous sex, to the point that there isn't a strong plot behind the story? There are a couple of books I've read I could use as an example, but I won't go there.…

Just This Sistahs Opinion - Please read for new changes with the Sistahs on the Shelf website

I can say with certainty 2008 has been a tremendous year.

From the triumph of Barack Obama, the first elected African-American president, to the ever increasing saga of this country’s recession, the year 2008 has seen its share of ups and downs. We’ve seen anti-gay legislation, such as California’s Proposition 8 and Florida’s Amendment 2, become victorious in ensuring marriage remains between a man and woman only, while languishing in the pride that funnywoman Wanda Sykes finally came out the c… Continue

Street Kings

Today I went to see the movie Street Kings. It was an action and suspense movie. Although it was good it seemed to run along the theme of the Departed, Serpico or Training Day. Good cop, bad cop, corrupt police system, only one person looking out for the best interests of the city and the world.

Just This Sistahs Opinion (March 2008)

Friends before lovers.

Such an interesting concept, but rarely one we put into practice.

Case in point, there’s the old running joke about what lesbians bring on a second date — a U-Haul. We tend to move quickly in women-to-women relationships, making bonds hurriedly, sometimes without much forethought. And in these fly-by-night affairs, the thing that’s missing?
